NYM were proud to host Carrera Petrarca's development XV at Pier 40 last Saturday. The Italians showed why they are the development XV for a professional team by racking up a large win and playing with pace and flair. The match was played in great spirit and was a great experience for NYM.
On a beautiful day for rugby at Pier 40 NYM started where they left off against Bayonne last week by posting 38 unanswered points in the first 35 minutes. Full of running rugby in the first half NYM allowed Landowne back in the door in the second half to temper the win slightly.
After a couple of disappointing weeks the coaches worked their magic and NYM came out transformed against METNY D2 winners Bayonne last weekend. Capitalizing on Bayonne errors and playing some decent rugby of their own NYM took home the bacon 39-10. The B-side followed up with a rousing victory by 27-14 (unconfirmed). Sean Danahy reports...
NYM traveled to Malden, MA, just north of Boston, to play Mystic River at their Pine Banks Park turf field on a chilly day that started with rain in New York, and snow in MA. However, by the time kick-off came it was cloudy but clear. What follwed was a hard-fought rugby match in a good tradition of the MET NY-NERFU rivalry.
