NYM overcame numerous injuries early on to post a win against D1 newcomers Union. Brian Piantedosi and Danny Sonon got the tries. The B-side improved on the A-side showing with a lopsided 42-0 win. While the coaches were happy with the results and the play in general there is plenty to work on ahead of the rest of the schedule.

The Coaches nominated NYM Player of the Month for August 2007 is Keith Gray. They singled him out for his desire, fitness, and commitment to the team. Keith was the only person to attend 100% of training session from the beginning of pre-season, was the fittest person in pre-seaosn fitness tests, and his level of play dramatically improved as the 7's season finished and we headed into the pre-season. NYM trouped up to Van Cortlandt Park for a feisty afternoon game against Lansdowne. This was a vital chance to get a look at all the current squad members. Prior to the game it was agreed we would play 3 x 40 minute periods to allow for significant game time for all players, however Lansdowne had a depleted squad on the day so this was reduced to 2 regulation 40 minute halves, somewhat disrupting our plans. The A-side won the first half 6-0 while Lansdowne won the second half 12-0.
