Gents win 31-19 vs cross-state rivals Ct Grays. The Gents are off to our best season ever. Our third game of the season saw us dominate in just about every phase of the game. Steve Cullman scored in the opening minutes and we never looked back. We scored in each of the three periods, scored the first try of the game and the last try of the game. We supported, got off some excellent second phase, made good tackles and gave the backs room to run. It was a total victory in all aspects...
While there are many measures for success this game, the best was that for the first time in memory, We may have had more players ready to suit up than the Grays. One of the best old boys sides around, the Grays traveled to Randalls after a successful tour to Ireland. They were, as always, loaded and great competitors. Matt Finnerty played his debut game as a Gent and Mike Delano even put in an appearance. Oh wait, he wasn't there. He got hurt running. Joe Kelly called a great game and with the weather, it was a great day of old boys rugby. NEW JERSIES We do have a small problem lads. We are missing jersies. We once had 22 and are now down to 16. That means that somwhere out there, six jersies are in the hands of some Gent who has lost them in their laundry pile. Guys, we don't have enough anymore and no one likes having to put on a sweaty jersy after someone like, ok me, had it on. Dig em out and bring em back. If you want to order your own, Brian at Rugby Imports has our order ready. They have our Gents of NY logo and they have the pattern, the new pattern that includes the maroon of Monmouth. They gave us a break on price and if you want to order your own call them at 1-800-431-4514. They are $47 each. Next game May 13 Next up, vs the Old Poltroons on May 13. They are a great side, will be coming in from all over the USA. A Vintage Whines game to follow. Guys, we need one more great turnout. I hope to see you all there. |
