5.12.06 - US Rugby announced the US Women's National Team World Cup squad this morning. US Head Coach Kathy Flores said the announcement, "is necessary to begin garnering team unity before we compete against Canada at the 2006 National All-Star Championships."
Flores noted the difficulty in selecting the squad, "many players have participated with us for the past 3 1/2 years. They all have strengths and attributes that make them the leaders of their LAU clubs and territorial unions. Each player has worked very hard to improve her performance for the team and individually. All of this hard work gets down to the fact we can only take 26 rostered players. We also selected 4 position-specific non-rostered players to train with us in the event of injury. These 30 players are a reflection of everyone's hard work and effort." A list of Eagle Reserves was also released. The squad will play 2 international matches at the National All-Star Championships in Colorado, June 10-13, 2006. World Cup 2006 Squad (NY players in BOLD)
