For the second annual Ruckin Regatta in Denville, NJ the Gents of New York showed up in force for the first game of the season. A hearty influx of Monmouth RFC players, always strong Gents supporters helped fill out the side...
We opened the roundrobin event with a half against Morris RFC. Always a strong side, they proved to be as strong as we suspected and eventually handed us a 19-7 defeat. We bounced back against cross-state rivals the Connecticut Grays. Always a tough side and an excellent traveling old boys side, we played a tough match bouncing back to defeat them 12-10. A point after kick making the deciding points. Afterward, we traveled to Neil Hogan's home for a fine display of grilled meats, ice cold beer and of course the regatta portion that included kayak races around his lake. Yes, there was a winner.
