Three New York Players to Start in WRWC 5th Place Final on Sept 17 PDF Print E-mail

Kelly McMahon (flanker), Kristin Baja (flyhalf), and Hedwig Aerts (center) will all start against Scotland in the USA's 5th Place Championship match at the IRB Women's Rugby World Cup...

Annie Collier (prop), Phaidra Knight (flanker), and Lee Knight (scrumhalf) will dress as reserves.

The Eagles have gone 3-1 so far at the 2006 WRWC, losing only to Cup Championship Semi-finalists England, 0-18, on the first day of competition. The Eagles went on to beat Ireland 24-11 and Australia 10-6 in the remaining pool games, and then beat Australia again (and even more convincingly) 29-12 in the first round of the "Plate" Championship. Scotland edged Ireland 11-10 in their semi-final. The US and Scotland will face off Sunday Sept 17, in Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton at 12 noon local time (2pm Eastern). The Cup Championship between England and New Zealand kicks off Sunday at 5pm Edmonton time (7pm Eastern)  and will also be shown on Setanta Sports for those who have the channel via Cable or Satellite.
