Last Sunday NYM representatives Pete Smith and Mike Toth cycled for charity to raise money for multiple sclerosis research in the 21st Annual MS Bike Tour. While it is nice to be associated with this, these guys did it off their own bat.
Multiple sclerosis is a devasting disease that strikes people in the prime of their lives and the Tour's goal is to raise $21 million to aid MS research. On the eve of the event a crew of 5 was formed and named "Team D-Side" (Dr. Toth, Frankie D’Angelo, Pete Kane, Christie Morse & PW). The 100 mile route consisted of: START at Pier 94 (54th Street and West Side Hwy) · all around NYC (West Side Hwy, FDR, Harlem River Drive, West Side Hwy) · through the Lincoln Tunnel to God’s Country (a/k/a New Jersey) · north along the Hudson River in God’s Country · continue north along the Hudson in Rockland County, NY · loop around Rockland County · back into God’s Country · over the George Washington Bridge · south down the West Side Highway FINISH at Pier 94 A note of thanks from Pete and the team: "WOW! You guys are awesome. On extremely short notice, friends, family and New York Rugby Club members donated more than $2,200 in response to the email below. The day before the race, Toth formed “Team D-Side,” who raised an additional $1,100. That’s $3,300 in less than one week. Well done. Thanks very much for your generosity. Next year we hope more of you will join us on the ride." If you haven't made a donation as yet but would like to then you can mail a check (made payable to "MS Bike Tour") to Peter W. Smith at 200 West 60th Street, Apt. 27-G, New York, NY 10023, or click on the following link: https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=173935&supid=151161591 Great work Pete, Toth and the rest of the crew. |
