James Lik is back. The Northeast has named their National All Star Championship squad and Slik, seen here against Argentina in 2005 and looking to get back to the Eagle set up in time for the World Cup next year, has made the cut...
This years NASC has had greater emphasis put on it by the US coaches, especially Peter Thorburn, essentially saying that players who have been in and out of the Eagle set up needed more exposure to high level rugby if they wanted to be considered again. This has meant that, perhaps for the first time in a while, many Super League and top levels players will be there. After the initial rounds of selection and games against MARFU and Ontario, in which he scored a try, NYM second row James Lik has made the grade. Other squad members involved in the NRU trials were Michael Toth and NYM captain Brian Fitzgerald, both of whom were said to put in consistently good performances for the developmental side but just failed to crack the full NASC squad. Congratulations to all involved!! |
