Tibbets Park, Yonkers, NY Saturday, September 22, 2007 Thanks to all the family, friends and players who attended the Boston Game this past weekend. It was the first time we had used this facility as our home field and despite a bit of fog, it turned out to be a nice venue...
SENIOR SQUAD NEW YORK 22-00 BOSTON After some late changes due to travel difficulties, the Senior Squad was to encounter a feisty and much improved Boston team. The visitors consistently stopped the numerous New York attacks and played very well. Although most of the game was played in our visitors half, NY could not seem to put the final touches to some great movement and support. Half way through the half the deadlock was finally broken by an exceptional play and excellent finishing by wing, Twiggs Carlson. After adjusting our attacking lines at the half, New York started to wear down Boston and gaps started to open up as Carrie DuBray, Jenna Flateman and Hedwig Aerts ran in unanswered tries putting the score out of reach. Strong games by Kristin Baja, Katie Brethel and Stephanie Paddock were highlighted by a greater team effort. 01 COLLIER, Annie 02 DENGLER, Molly 03 MacCALLUM, Katie 04 FLYNN, Rachel 05 JOYCE, Jen 06 RUBENSTEIN, Heidi 07 PADDOCK, Stephanie 08 BRETHEL, Katie 09 MOGRO, Daniela 10 AERTS, Hedwig 11 HENRY, Tyshawn 12 BUSSMAN, Jenna 13 PRICE, Alison 14 CARLSON, Twiggs 15 BAJA, Kristin Reserves: DuBRAY, Carrie 30th Min. for Katie MacCallum BRUCE, Michelle 30th Min. for Molly Dengler DuGOFF, Eva Half Time for Rachel Flynn FLATEMAN, Jenna 55th Min. for Tyshawn Henry BILAZARIAN, Laura 60th Min. for Jenna Bussman CAMPBELL, Kristen 65th Min. for Daniela Mogro SCORELINE: 18 Min 05-00 Unconverted try by Twiggs CARLSON Half Time 54 Min 10-00 Unconverted try by Carrie DuBRAY 56 Min 15-00 Unconverted try by Jenna FLATEMAN 17-00 Conversion by Hedwig AERTS 64 Min 22-00 Unconverted try by Hedwig AERTS Final DEVELOPMENTAL SQUAD NEW YORK 39-00 BOSTON The development squad is the heart beat of this club and shows true depth and incredible improvement since the start of the seasons. After a narrow victory over Beantown last week, the development side thrilled all with some great running rugby and iron clad defensive to beat Boston 39 - 0. With the mist rolling in, covering the field in a blanket of fog (with spectators been unable to see the other see of the pitch). The team showed true determination and lots of patience, camping in Boston's 22 for nearly 15 minutes before registering their first points. With the forwards dominating the scrums and Helen “R2” Meisner flying high at line out time, the backs were given ample ball to display some amazing talent. Great job by the forwards, with some great runs by Fontaine Lloyd, Rachel “Fatty” Flynn and Eva DuGoff- leading from the front. With Heather “Hoops” VanDerHoop marshalling the backs, the Boston back line had to work incredibly hard to keep the NY team at bay. But some spectacular running by Z and Mira saw them score at wide. And when Boston did see the ball, great defensive work by Laura Bilazarian and Monica Rodriguez saw most movements die in mid field. Even with all the substitutions, NY were able to sustain the pressure and keep producing some very high standards of rugby. 01 HUGHES, Rachel 02 DENGLER, Molly 03 LLOYD, Fontaine 04 MEISNER, Helen 05 VALENCIA, Diana 06 LONDON, Laura 07 CAMPBELL, Kristen 08 FLYNN, Rachel 09 LITT, Sarah 10 VANDERHOOP, Heather (Capt) 11 CAMPOS, Zania 12 BILAZARIAN, Laura 13 RODRIGUEZ, Monika 14 SERILL-ROBBINS, Mira 15 MACGOWAN, Rosalie Reserves: JUNQUERA, Cristina Replaced Hughes @ 40min MacCALLUM, Katie Replaced Dengler @ 40min SPOTTSWOOD, Ella Replaced Valencia @ 50min GUFFEY, Mickey Replaced London @ 60min BOUNDS, Kat Replaced Campbell @ 55min DUGOFF, Eva Replaced Flynn @ 40min AUBUCHON, Nicole Replaced Bilazarian @ 55min WEBB, Amanda Replaced Litt @ 40 min GRAY, Phoebe Replaced Serill-Robbins @ 55min Point Scorers Heather VanDerHoop 9 Points Try and 2 Conversions Fontaine Lloyd 5 Points Try Zania Campos 5 Points Try Mira Serill-Robbins 5 Points Try Rosalie MacGowan 5 Points Try Katie MacCallum 5 Points Try Eva DuGoff 5 Points Try Lastly, a very special thanks to Boston for making the trip out to NY with two full squads and showing great gamesmanship throughout the day. We look forward to playing them in two weeks time again. Note from Brynn: I do apologize if I missed anything or anyone - I literally only saw half the game from my side of the field. But great game girls. And Special Thanks for Drew - who stepped up and refereed the development game. |
