Founded one year ago by veteran NYC public school teacher, certified coach and former USA national team player, Lisa Lake, New York Rugby Club's Under-19 ("U-19") 501(c)(3) nonprofit program hopes to serve as a model for achievement through participation in citywide sport and community building efforts.

MISSION – CITIZENSHIP, VALUES, SECONDARY EDUCATION

The U-19 program promotes citizenship and teaches the transferable values of commitment, honesty, sportsmanship, trust, teamwork, selflessness, discipline, diversity, competition and fitness through exposure and participation in citywide club rugby. The U-19 program also specifically aims to encourage and facilitate participants to achieve a secondary education, demanding high academic standards while providing resources to meet this goal.

PARTICIPANTS

High School (ages 13-19) males and females in New York City, mostly from low-income and minority families

RESOURCES NEEDED

While the volunteers of New York Rugby Club maximize the impact of the U-19 program's resources, financial assistance is necessary to ensure that the program reaches its full potential, which involves not only recruiting as many youths as can benefit but also exposing the program's current participants to positive experiences. Only with proper funding and continued volunteer support can the program help these students build their cases for admittance to secondary education institutions and develop the leadership skills to become role models in their communities.

Your financial assistance will go toward travel expenses for trips like the ones mentioned above, recruitment efforts, assistance with practice and equipment expenses and supporting individual opportunities such as college visits as they arise. Please note that New York Rugby Club is an incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and donations are fully tax deductible.

BENEFITS FROM DONATING

While donating to such a worthy cause that is fully leveraged by a large volunteer network is its own reward, there are other benefits from donating to this program. In joining this group of Wall Street and Fortune 1000 executives, small business owners and successful professionals who, like you, value sport and competition as a means for teaching character and life values, you are becoming part of a unique network whi ch in the long run will also benefit you. We will continually keep you updated on events to which you will have an open invitation and provide you access to this special group of kids.

We will also have at least one event a year, where you will be invited to put on your cleats and play alongside the kids. In addition to the fun networking opportunity, it can be therapeutic to have a day where you can just be a kid again.

New York Rugby Club, Inc. is a qualified IRC 501(c)(3) charitable organization and is a registered charity with New York State. Donations are deductible as provided by law. A copy of the latest annual report may be obtained, upon request, from the organization or from the New York State Attorney General's Charities Bureau, 120 Broadway, New York, NY 10271.
