NYM had our Fall Team meeting to review the season last night, 7:30pm downstairs at Mr Dennehys. Some salient points were raised about where we are, where we want to go, and how to go about it. The season MVPs were also announced...
29 people atteded the meeting, 15 of which attended the first meeting back in August. Thanks to all of you for coming down but there are clearly more members of the squad out there! If you are not getting the email messages talk to Luca Loguercio and we'll get you on the list. The team meeting covered 1. The short-term goals we had set in August and how we performed relative to them. 2. A recap of our long-term goals for the spring season and beyond. 3. Team requirements including recruitment, fitness and positional requirements, setting individual player goals and evaluation, selection criteria. 4. How to implement strategies to attain these goals and requirements. 5. A overview of training for next year and the recognition that players need to take more responsibility. After this the coaches announced the Fall awards, which were as follows: Best Squad: Orange Squad, led by Saad had clearly the most desire, and performed better in training attedence and in games. They win $10 form each player in the other squads to do with whatever they want. Player of the Month: Nick Baker. An interview and website profile will appear shortly. Fowards MVP: Peter Galen. The coaches summed it up by saying that his attitude is the one everybody else should have. Backs MVP: All the experienced backs were shown up by the desire, learning ability and enthusiasm of Arnold Chavis of our U19 Team. He regularly made our training even after training for 2h previously at Randalls Island or CWP. He has improved tremendously as a player for having trained and played with the mens Team.
