Dear team Captains/Managers,

Last month we were notified that the fields we booked in December had been made unavailable. Rather than cancel the tournament we have moved to a new facility to accommodate the 28 teams who have registered and readied themselves for the event...

This year's Big Apple Classic will be held in Brentwood, Long Island, 45 miles (one hour) from Manhattan at the Suffolk County Community College (SCCC).

The field surface is a matted grass similar to field surface on Randall’s Island, directly adjacent to both the Long Island Expressway (exit 53) and 7 minutes walk from the SCCC convention centre.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this will cause if you have already made arrangements for transport or accommodation.

For those teams who wish to stay in Suffolk County we have competitive rates from several hotels (see below) in the area and we will be organizing a modest after-tournament function close to the SCCC facility. Teams will need to make their own hotel bookings.

I can assure you all the decision to proceed was given extensive consideration by all involved and the players and officers of the New York Rugby Club have been quite unanimous in wishing to continue our preparation in the hope that the Big Apple Classic will develop into the premier Junior Rugby Tournament in New York.

Please email me if you have any questions or concerns, as I’m sure this comes as a surprise to you all. Further information will be added to the New York Rugby Club website next week.
