THE VINTAGE RUGBY CARNIVAL – CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND
SEPTEMBER 14-20, 2008
COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTCHURCH
ISSUE 3, JANUARY 5 - 2007

*Explosions of joy are normally few and far between.
If you join the Vintage Whines there are explosions all over the place*

1. OK folks, it's confirmed. The cut off date on joining the Vintage Whines for the trip to Christchurch, New Zealand for the Vintage Rugby Carnival is the end of March 2007. For information and dates on the Carnival go to www.vintagerugby.com - For more information about costs contact me at geoffandrews@gmail.com

2. The Whines first visited Christchurch, New Zealand in 1995 and those on that trip will agree that of the 7 trips the Whines have been on Christchurch was "the best" trip of all.

3. The Whines need a motto for this visit. Any suggestions? So far I've received, The New York Vintage Whines - Less Wardrobe, More Malfunction. And someone suggested we could find something "New York" at this site http://gawker.com/maps/smell/

4. If you'd like to come on the trip and need to raise a few funds check out this site for selling all you're weird and wonderful stuff.

5. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT DEPT. - From the New Yorker, October 9, 2006 page 29. An incident at New York's long ago paper, the Daily Mirror. "This young fellow walks off the elevator. He has a gun in his hand, blood all over his shirt. The first desk he comes to is Jim Hurley's. Hurley was the hunting-and-fishing editor. The guy says to him, 'I came home and found my wife in bed with another guy. So I shot her. I want to turn myself in.' Hurley says, 'This is outdoor sports. Indoor sports is over there."

6. From Mike Rooney – "My friends tell me that I refuse to grow up, but I know they're just jealous because they don't have pajamas with feet."

7. CHRISTCHURCH INFORMATION - Christchurch is located on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. It is in the province of Canterbury. The first Europeans landed in Canterbury in 1815, 45 years after Captain James Cook sighted the area. Christchurch became a city by Royal Charter on July 31, 1856, making it officially the oldest established city in New Zealand.
