Gentlemen of New York

Our spring season begins Saturday, March 28 with our annual Old Boys Spring Festival in Monmouth County, N.J.

As in the past, games begin at 9a and the round robin format will continue. This year the field is just for the old boys and so we will play until we are done. There are five teams committed, The Caribbean Cougars, Gents of NY, Monmouth, Morris and Rockland Old Boys. So expect to play each team at least once in the 20 minute format. There should be more than enough rugby for all.

Directions:

  • Old Boys Festival to be held at Thompson Park, Lincroft, NJ
  • Exit 109 off the Garden State Parkway, then a right at the end of the ramp, Newman Springs Road
  • Continue thru town.
  • Go past Brookdale College and Thompson Park is on your left. (if you go to the Christian Brothers Academy you have gone to far.)
  • Go all the way to the back of the park and the follow the path to the field behind the trees. (Beer is not allowed at the park, so bring out what you bring in and put it in a plastic cup.)

Party to follow at the Monmouth Club House, the Wilde Rover, 153 Shrewsbury Avenue, Red Bank.

RSVP’s are always welcome. Hey Jersey Boys, Jim Green, Delano, Buddy, this is your home game. See you all there.

We have five games this season, one in NJ, the following weekend against the Greys and four on the new turf fields at Randalls. We have new kit. Come on out and play some good old boys rugby. Read about old boys 7’s.

See you on the pitch,

The Season:

April 4, away at the Connecticut Greys, with the Village Lions and the Boston Old Boys. They will be loaded at home with at least 30 guys dying to play.

April 18, home vs the Connecticut Greys.

May 2 vs the Lions at Randalls. This is Friends and Family Day for the New York Rugby Club. That means there will be all teams present and lots of food and drink. As always a great team day for kids and families.

May 16 The Return of the Old Poltroons. They are back again and looking for revenge. This will again be at Randalls.
