On a glorious day at Wards Island (Randall's Island, NYC), the New York Rugby Club Men hosted Morris RFC, the 2008 METNY D2 champions.
The guys showed up early for the familiar “blowout”workout and would not disappoint a large crowd of family, friends, supporters and our old boy’s team. Six tries in the first half and another six in the second secured the powerful performance. The lads of the Senior side we led by excellent performances by flankers AJ Cush-Fautley and James Walsh and Captain Matt Venzin in the centers.The Developmental side shut out the visitors with a strong performance that saw 26 different players getting a chance to play due to open substitution. The club’s depth was evident as three of the five tries scored occurred in the second half. Men of the Match honors went to Diego Birritta (who also played in his first Senior Squad Match as a reserve) and Chris McDermott.
