The New York Rugby Club

The New York Rugby Club is the oldest rugby club in the United States, and fields highly competitive Division I Men's, Premier Women's, U-19 Boy's and Girls teams, as well as an Old Boy's side.

The NYRC was founded to continue a tradition of excellence, sportsmanship and fun, on and off the field, that dates back to the formation of the NYRFC in 1929. We value our ties to a large alumni network as much as we strive to focus on the development of youth, high school, and collegiate rugby players in the greater New York metropolitan area.

And always we work to develop our active players - numbering well over 200 men and women of all ages - and give all levels of players and fans the opportunity to enjoy the best of what the game can offer.

Last Monday's Annual General Meeting was conducted at O'Brien's Bar and Grill on 46th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues. read on to hear about the resulting changes.

Thanks to all who came out and thanks to those who put their hands up to help out with the Club in the capacity of Officers and Directors. We'll continue to need support and volunteering from everyone to make this a great Club and hope we can count on you for that.

Thank you also to our outgoing Officers and Directors. Your contributions have been invaluable.
Special thanks to Jessa Giordano, rounding out a decade on the Board and thank goodness she will still be Director of our amazing 7s tournament.
Also to Annie Collier who has served as Treasurer, U19 Coach/ Administrator, Grant writer and Women's coach, sometimes all at the same time! She will continue on in her coaching/ administrative work with the U19s and we wish her and Lisa Lake well as they go through their ACC coaching accreditation with USA Rugby (only 20 coaches per year are accepted)

New Board Members Casey Mizzone (3 year term), Angel Rodriguez (1 year term) and Tyshawn Henry (3 year term) will be joining Jenna Bussman (re-elected for a new 3 year term), Ed Brydon, Liz Cass, Dave Ellwell, Dave Levine, Sarah Litt, Dave Martin, and Steph Paddock on the board.

In a snafu, Ben Whitney's term expired this year as well and was not filled. We may seek to fill this in full accordance with Club Bylaws.

Club Officers elected for a one-year term (newly elected officers in bold):

VP Women: Christina Hobson
VP Men: Andrew Mezo
VP U19: Molly Dengler

In order to bring our Old Boys side, the Gentlemen of NY, under the same Club umbrella as the other teams, it was unanimously approved to have a VP of the GoNY and to have the Old Boys convene to appoint their first Club VP.
