| The New York Rugby Club is the oldest rugby club in the United States, and fields highly competitive Division I Men's, Premier Women's, U-19 Boy's and Girls teams, as well as an Old Boy's side. The NYRC was founded to continue a tradition of excellence, sportsmanship and fun, on and off the field, that dates back to the formation of the NYRFC in 1929. We value our ties to a large alumni network as much as we strive to focus on the development of youth, high school, and collegiate rugby players in the greater New York metropolitan area. And always we work to develop our active players - numbering well over 200 men and women of all ages - and give all levels of players and fans the opportunity to enjoy the best of what the game can offer. You can follow NYRC on Twitter @NewYorkRugby for live match updates and more, and on Facebook for more Club news, events and chatter with the players, family and fans.

Tuesday, 28 February 2012 |
Lancaster, PA The New York Rugby Boys had a stellar performance in the 2012 Frostbite Tournament in Pennsylvania on February 25th and 26th. Starting day one after a three and a half hour drive, the boys overcame the travel and were switched on ready to play vs North Bay. NYRC came were victorious 18-3 and had to shake off any soreness and injuries to get ready to play one hour later vs Warwick. The boys responded again by jumping out to a big lead and maintaining it the entire match winning 24-0. After lunch the boys were determined to finish the day undefeated and put on a clinic vs Hamburgh shutting them out 36-0. Day one was in the books, the boys headed back to the hotel for rest and relaxation, fueled their bodies and got their minds right with the finest Italian food Lancaster offers with stuffed shells, chicken parma and some antipasta. All along the players knew what was expected and how this tournament was going to lay the benchmark for their season; they acted professional and took it as a business trip it was. |

The NRU Championships were held up at Mystic River's grounds pine Banks in Malden MA this weekend with NYRC looking to go one better than last year and secure a home playoff for the D1 CR4 playoff with MARFU. On the first day NYRC though against NERFU #1 Mystic River the guys never got going in the first half and were 50-0 down early in the second. They eventually found their pattern and started fighting back adding 24 points of their own to close out the match. Though the 50-24 loss was not heartening. Second day 3rd/4th place playoffs after the jump... |

NYRC beat South Shore to Advance to NRU Championship |
Saturday, 12 November 2011 |
In a thrilling match on Randall's Island the scores went back and forth, eventually leading to extra time. The difference between the teams was one conversion with both teams scoring tries in extra time but NYRC's Badger Denehy crucially nailed the conversion. Nerves were frayed at the end with South Shore looking to drive over the line once more but the ball squirted out over the touchline just meters from the NRYC tryline and the ref blew the whistle for fulltime. NYRC had held on for a nailbiter of a 32-30 win. South Shore played hard and were a great bunch, we thank them for the match. NYRC now looks forward to the NRU championships at Mystic River's home field - Pine Banks, Malden, MA - next weekend to determine seeding for the National Division 1 CR4 Round of 32 playoffs. You can follow NYRC on Twitter @NewYorkRugby for live match updates and more, and on Facebook for more Club news, events and chatter with the players, family and fans. |
